How it works
North Dakota has a work-sharing agreement with the EEOC. A charge filed with ND Department of Labor & Human Rights is generally also considered filed with the EEOC ("dual-filed"), and vice versa. You usually only need to file once.
Key notes
North Dakota's one-employee threshold is broad. North Dakota is also notable for banning non-compete agreements — one of only a few states to do so categorically. This significantly limits employers' ability to restrict workers' future employment options.
